كشف المجلس العسكري الحاكم في النيجر عن إحباط محاولة ليلية للرئيس المخلوع محمد بازوم للهروب من الاعتقال مع عائلته بعد نحو ثلاثة أشهر من اعتقاله في أعقاب انقلاب عسكري.
وقال الكولونيل ميجور أمادو عبد الرحمن في بيان إن بازوم حاول الوصول إلى مركبة كانت تنتظره حوالي الساعة 3 صباحا كانت ستنقله إلى ضواحي العاصمة نيامي، مع عائلته وطباخين وأفراد أمنه.
وقال عبد الرحمن إنه كان من المقرر نقلهم من هناك إلى نيجيريا على متن “مروحيتين تابعتين لقوة أجنبية”، مؤكدا أنه “تم إحباط هذه الخطة لزعزعة استقرار بلادنا، وتم القبض على الجناة الرئيسيين وفتح المدعي العام بالفعل تحقيقا”.
يذكر أن بازوم يخضع للإقامة الجبرية مع زوجته وابنه منذ الإطاحة به في يوليو، ويرفض الاستقالة. قطع المجلس العسكري عنه الكهرباء والماء.
