Local sources in Sanaa revealed movements by the terrorist Houthi militia, Iran's arm in Yemen, in order to fully extend its control over the Central Oversight and Accounting Organization, as part of its efforts to humanize various government sectors before reaching a political settlement that ends the war in Yemen.
Activists circulated on social media that the Houthi militias had dismissed 29 employees in the agency, claiming they were absent from work, while the truth is their fears of disclosing reports of corruption of leaders loyal to them in government institutions.
The sources indicate that this is not the first time that the militias have dismissed employees of the agency and replaced them with members of its own.
In the middle of last year, the militias dismissed more than 300 employees of the agency without any legal justification, and elements affiliated with what is known as the Houthi Preventive Security Service previously kidnapped 5 employees of the regulatory agency in Sanaa, after fabricating malicious charges against them, most notably leaking documents on corruption practiced by leaders. Houthi in a number of revenue institutions.
The sources stated that late last year, the militias seized the lands of the employees’ housing association in the city of Hodeidah, west of the country, through illegal judicial rulings, despite the employees having official contracts issued and documented by the General Authority for State Lands and Real Estate.
The mission of the Central Oversight and Accounting Agency, according to the law, is to review the financial reports and transactions of government institutions, identify sources of corruption, and request official letters from the bodies to clarify these points.
Local activists had previously circulated a series of leaked official reports and documents issued by the oversight body subject to the militias that revealed the extent of the horrific Houthi tampering that affected all institutions and sectors of the usurped Yemeni state, including a document revealing a corruption case represented by the seizure of the assets of oil companies by officials and leaders in the group.
