تمكن مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب بالخبر، من إجراء عملية دقيقة ومعقدة، لإستئصال ورم بالمخ، لرضيعة تبلغ من العمر 8 أشهر، سبب لها مضاعفات حادة. ذكر ذلك الدكتور عبدالرزاق العوجان استشاري جراحة المخ والأعصاب والعمود الفقري للأطفال، رئيس الفريق الطبي المعالج.
والذي أضاف بأن الطفلة وصلت إلى المستشفى برفقة ذويها عبر قسم الطوارىء، وهي في حالة صحية حرجة وبكاء شديد، وبين الفحص السريري تعرضها لنوبات متكررة من التشنجات الصرعية الحادة، والتي سببت لها آلاماً شديدة وضُعف حاد في الشهية ونقص بالوزن خلال الشهور الماضية، مفيداً بأنه على الفور تم تقديم الإسعافات الأولية لتخفيف حدة الأعراض، وتنويمها بوحدة العناية المركزة I.

C.U، مع إخضاعها لمجموعة من الفحوصات التشخيصية الدقيقة، بأشعة الرنين المغناطيسي M.R.I والتحاليل المخبرية.

وقال الدكتور العوجان أنه تم إخضاعها لعملية جراحية دقيقة استغرقت 4 ساعات تحت التخدير العام، وذلك باستخدام أحدث الأجهزة المتقدمة من أنظمة الملاحة العصبية Neuro Navigation والميكروسكوب البينترو Microscope Pentero، حيث تم عمل فتح بالجمجمة وتحرير الورم من الشرايين الرئيسية الملاصقة وإستئصاله بالكامل، نقلت بعدها للعناية المركزة للأطفال، ووضعت تحت الملاحظة على مدار الساعة.
