عاجل .. وفاة الرئيس الأمريكي الأسبق جيمي كارتر

ذكرت وسائل إعلام أمريكية فجر يوم الاثنين، بأن الرئيس الأمريكي الأسبق جيمي كارتر توفي عن عمر ناهز 100 عام.
وبحسب"روسيا اليوم"، فإن جيمي كارتر هو الرئيس التاسع والثلاثين للولايات المتحدة في الفترة من 1977 إلى 1981.
واحتفل الرئيس الراحل بعيد ميلاده المئة في 1 أكتوبر 2024 مما يجعله أول رئيس أمريكي على قيد الحياة يصل إلى هذا السن.
وخضع كارتر وهو ديمقراطي خدم في البيت الأبيض من عام 1977 إلى عام 1981، خلال الأشهر 19 الماضية لرعاية المسنين في ولايته جورجيا والذي انتخب حاكما لها سابقا.
لكن مزارع الفول السوداني السابق الذي دخل عالم السياسة لأول مرة في الستينيات من القرن العشرين كعضو في مجلس الشيوخ عن الولاية، اندمج مع من حوله من الناس ولا يزال يخوض تجارب ويضحك ويحب، وفقا لتصريحات أدلى بها حفيده جيسون في سبتمبر 2024.
جدير بالذكر أن شرطة لوس أنجلوس ألقت في 5 مايو 1979 القبض على متسكع اسمه ريموند لي هارفي خارج مركز تسوق سيفيك في المدينة قبل 10 دقائق فقط من موعد إلقاء الرئيس كارتر كلمته هناك، وكان يحمل مسدسا وعدة مخازن بحسبما أفادت به مجلة "أتلانتيك".
وزعم هارفي أنه عضو في خلية خططت وسعت لاغتيال كارتر.
