في يوليو عام 2024، طوت المملكة المتحدة بشكل رسمي صفحة حزب المحافظين بعد 14 سنة من حكم الحزب، تخللتها لحظات تاريخية بارزة، وكان أهمها الانسحاب من الاتحاد الأوروبي «بريكست» والوقائع الجدلية التي وصلت إلى مستوى فضائح في عهد رئيسي الوزراء السابقين.
عرضت قناة «القاهرة الإخبارية» تقريرًا بعنوان «المملكة المتحدة تطوي صفحة حزب المحافظين بعد 14 سنة في الحكم»، توضح أن أداء الحكومة في بريطانيا كان ولا يزال في دائرة الضوء في مسارين يتقاطعان في العديد من المسارات الأخرى، حيث طوت المملكة المتحدة صفحة حزب المحافظين بعد 14 سنة في الحكم.
وقال التقرير إنها أسوأ أزمة تضخم تمر بها المملكة المتحدة منذ الحرب العالمية الثانية، ورغم تلك الإخفاقات، إلا أن أكبر أخطاء المحافظين تمثلت في عدم الإنجاز أو الوفاء بالوعود التي قدموها خلال حملاتهم الانتخابية.
ولفت التقرير إلى أن الأمر الذي كان على زعيم حزب العمال البريطاني، كير ستارمر، بعد فوز حزب العمال في انتخابات صيف 2024، كان الاستفادة من تلك الفرصة التي مهدت له الانتقال من أغلبية مطلقة للمحافظين عام 2019 إلى أغلبية مطلقة للعمال في 2024.
وأشار التقرير إلى أن أداء الحكومة في بريطانيا كان ولا يزال في دائرة الضوء في مسارين يتقاطعان في مسارات عدة، هما الأزمة الاقتصادية والعلاقات الدولية، ففوز حزب العمال باكتساح في الانتخابات، أتاح له تطبيق برنامجه السياسي بحرية دون ضغوط، وهو ما كان يمكن أن يفرضه تشكيل حكومة ائتلافية.
