تلقى المنتخب السعودي ضربة موجعة بعد الهزيمة أمام البحرين في مستهل مشوار "الأخضر" في "خليجي 26" المقام بالكويت.
وأعلن المنتخب السعودي استبعاده مهاجمه صالح الشهري، بعد تعرضه لإصابة عضلية في المشاركة أمام البحرين.
وذكر المنتخب أن الجهاز الفني بقيادة المدرب الفرنسي هيرفي رينارد، قرر بعد مشورة الجهاز الطبي استبعاد الشهري من بقية مشوار المنتخب في كأس الخليج.
والأحد، أسقط المنتخب البحريني نظيره السعودي 3-2 الأحد على استاد جابر الأحمد الدولي، ضمن منافسات المجموعة الثانية في بطولة كأس الخليج لكرة القدم "خليجي 26".
سجل للبحرين مهدي عبدالجبار (19) ومهدي الحميدان (38) ومحمد مرهون (76) وللسعودية مصعب الجوير (73) وصالح الشهري (86 من ركلة جزاء).
وضمن المجموعة عينها، تفوق المنتخب العراقي على اليمن بهدف من دون رد.
ومرر سلطان الغنام كرة عرضية عالية وصلت إلى ياسر الشهراني ولعبها رأسية فوق العارضة (90"4).
