وأضاف سموه أن التنظيم الذي صدر حديثًا للمؤسسة العامة للري منحها صلاحيات أوسع تسهم في تطوير قطاع الري، انسجامًا مع مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030 وبرنامج التحول الوطني، والاستراتيجية الوطنية للمياه.
وشدّد سموه على ضرورة تحقيق الاستفادة المثلى من موارد المياه والحفاظ على المنتجات الزراعية الوطنية وتشجيعها، واطلع على عرضٍ مرئي قدّمه وفد المؤسسة تناول مبادراتها وإنجازاتها خلال الفترة الماضية، مشيدًا بما تبذله المؤسسة في سبيل تطوير مشروعات الري، والاستفادة من مصادر المياه غير التقليدية في أغراض الري الزراعي.
وأوضح الرئيس التنفيذي للمؤسسة العامة للري المهندس محمد بن زيد أبو حيد أن المؤسسة أولت عنايتها بوضع حزمة من المشاريع الرأسمالية الطموحة في المنطقة الشرقية بلغت قيمتها الإجمالية أكثر من 3.7 مليار ريال، مبينًا أن سمو أمير المنطقة الشرقية دشّن في احتفال منظومة وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة عددًا من المشاريع المهمة بتكلفة تجاوزت 165 مليون ريال، كما يجري العمل على استكمال الإجراءات اللازمة لمجموعة من المشاريع المستقبلية بتكاليف تقديرية تتجاوز 2.6 مليار ريال، ستشكّل عند تنفيذها نقلة نوعية في خدمات المياه وإدارة الموارد المائية بالمنطقة الشرقية.
