كما اتضح أن المراجع مُصاب بعدة أمراض مزمنة، مثل السكري وإرتفاع شديد في ضغط الدم، والربو، والكوليسترول، وتناوله لأدوية تحتوي على مادة الكورتيزون، لتخفيف حدة تلك الأعراض على مدار سنوات، الأمر الذي أثر بالسلب على كفاءة البصر.
وأكد الدكتور الأحمري أن الفريق الطبي عقب دراسته لمعطيات الفحوصات، إتخذ القرار بالتدخل العلاجي، حيث خضع لعملية دقيقة استغرقت نصف ساعة تحت التخدير الموضعي، وتم فيها سحب الماء الأبيض من العينين وتركيب عدسات خاصة.
