مصرع 55 شخصا على الأقل جراء الفيضانات في بنغلاديش

لقي 55 شخصا مصرعهم على الأقل جراء أمطار غزيرة وانزلاقات للتربة تضرب مناطق في بنغلاديش منذ أسبوعين طالت آثارها أكثر من مليون شخص، وفق ما أفاد مسؤولون الأحد.

وتسببت الفيضانات والانزلاقات الأرضية اعتبارا من الأول من أغسطس بمقتل 21 شخصا في كوكس بازار، و19 شخصا في شيتاغونغ، و10 أشخاص في بانداربان وخمسة في رانغاماتي، وفق ما أعلن مسؤولون محليون في هذه المناطق الأربع الأكثر تضررا.
وأشار مسؤول هيئة الأرصاد الجوية البنغلاديشية عزيز الرحمن إلى أن هذه الأمطار هي "من الأكثر غزارة في الأعوام الأخيرة"، موضحا أن كمية المتساقطات في السابع من أغسطس فقط بلغت 312 مليمترا.
وأفاد مسؤولون أن هطول الأمطار الغزيرة استمر حتى 11 أغسطس، ما تسبب بفيضانات واسعة. وفاضت مياه الأنهر وغمرت مئات القرى.
وتشهد مناطق جنوب آسيا تساقط نحو 80 بالمئة من كمية المتساقطات السنوية خلال موسم الأمطار الموسمية، مع ما يرافق ذلك من وفيات بسبب الفيضانات والانزلاقات الأرضية.
