جمال بيومي: الموقف الأمريكي مساند بصورة عمياء لإسرائيل

علَّق السفير جمال بيومي، مساعد وزير الخارجية الأسبق، على جلسة مجلس الأمن الطارئة بشأن الأحداث الأخيرة في لبنان، قائلا: «قد تكون محفلا لكي نرفع أصواتنا ونجعل معظم دول العالم تتابع، والعالم يُدين العدوان الإسرائيلي، ورغم تفاؤلي إلا أنني لست متفائلا من أي قرار ننتظره لمجلس الأمن».
فيتو أمريكا يعرقل وقف إطلاق الناروأضاف «بيومي»، خلال مداخلة مع الإعلامية آلاء طاهر على قناة إكسترا نيوز، أنه سبق وأن تم عرض مجرد إيقاف القتال على مجلس الأمن فصوتت الولايات المتحدة ضد 14 دولة أعضاء مجلس الأمن وافقت على وقف القتال، وأمريكا صوَّتت بالفيتو، بالتالي لا أتصور أن مجلس الأمن سيصدر قرارا يفيد هذه القضية، والموقف الأمريكي مساند بصورة عمياء لإسرائيل مهما فعلت وحدث.
وتابع: «الأمم المتحدة ما لم يتعلق الأمر بالجمعية العامة، والجمعية العامة أصدرت قرارا منذ يومين به غالبية عظمى مع إيقاف القتال وتدين العدوان الإسرائيلي، لكن قرارات الجمعية العامة ليست ملزمة، بينما مجلس الأمن تقف فيه أمريكا بالمرصاد للاعتراض ولن تسمح له بإصدار أي قرار».
