شهد مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب بالخبر، إجراء عملية معقدة ونادرة جداً، لمراجعة "خمسينية" لاستئصال كامل للقنوات المرارية - الصفراوية الجامعة بالمنظار، مع توصيل الأمعاء الدقيقة بالقنوات الصفراوية، دون شق جراحي، ذكر ذلك الدكتور عبدالوهاب الشهراني إستشاري الجراحة العامة وجراحات السمنة والمناظير المتقدمة، والروبوت الآلي وجراحات الكبد والبنكرياس والقنوات المرارية، رئيس الفريق الطبي المعالج.

وأوضح د.عبدالوهاب أنه بعد دراسة نتائج الفحوصات، تقرر التدخل الجراحي عبر تقنية المنظار الدقيق، من خلال فتحات صغيرة بالبطن دون الحاجه للشق الجراحي المعتاد، واستغرقت الجراحة قرابة الثلاث ساعات ، تم خلالها استئصال كامل للقنوات الصفراوية الجامعة، وتوصيل الأمعاء الدقيقة بالقنوات الصفراوية الداخلية بالكبد بالمنطار، وبفضل الله وتوفيقه تكللت جهود الفريق الطبي بالنجاح، ونقلت المراجعة بعدها لجناح التنويم مباشرة، وبقيت تحت المراقبة لمدة ثلاث أيام، تحسنت خلالها مع الرعاية الطبية الحثيثة، ثم غادرت المستشفى بحالة صحية ونفسية جيدة.
ووصف د.عبدالوهاب العملية بالمتقدمة والنادرة، ولا تجرى إلا في مراكز محدودة بالعالم ، كونها تتم بالمنظار بشكل كامل، ودون فتح جراحي، كما أن أنها اتسمت بالتعقيد، إذ أن القنوات الصفراوية كانت ضخمة، وملتصقة بالأنسجة المحيطة بها، إلا أن كفاءة وتمرس الفريق الطبي، بالإضافة لتوافر التجهيزات الطبية المتقدمة التي يحظى بها المستشفى، ساهما في التدخل الطبي.
