Finding a Yemeni fishing vessel in India

 The Indian authorities announced that the Indian Coast Guard intercepted, on Sunday, the unmanned Yemeni fishing vessel "Al-Azhar 1", which partially sank and was floating in the Arabian Sea.

 According to a statement by the Indian Coast Guard, based on inputs from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Mumbai, the Indian Coast Guard detected an unmanned floating fishing boat about 160 km off the coast of Maharashtra.

He added, "The vessel appeared to be a Yemeni vessel - Al-Azhar-1 and was thoroughly searched for any suspicious activity. Further investigations were carried out by the regional headquarters, Mumbai, with the Yemeni authorities and the owner of the fishing boat."

 He pointed out that the ship's documents were verified by the Yemeni authorities, and the boat's credentials were confirmed to be in order, and there was no security angle involved.

 The statement pointed out that the Yemeni authorities and the owner of the boat confirmed that the boat was on its way from the port of Socotra to the port of Al-Shihr in Yemen, and suffered a mechanical failure off Socotra, and other fishing boats rescued a crew of 5 people on board on June 30.

 The boat failed to push and then, according to the southwest monsoon current and drift, the boat drifted to the Arabian Sea and was detected by the Indian Coast Guard.
