تمكن مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب بالخبر، من إجراء جراحة معقدة لإعادة بناء عظام الوجه والجمجمة، لطفل رضيع يبلغ من العمر 8 أشهر، مصاب بتشوه خلقي "نادر" منذ ولادته أدى إلى زيادة المحيط الأمامي والخلفي للرأس، وحدوث ضغط شديد على المخ، ذكر ذلك الدكتور عبدالرزاق العوجان استشاري جراحة المخ والاعصاب والعمود الفقري للأطفال، رئيس الفريق الطبي المعالج.

والذي أضاف فور وصول الطفل للعيادة، وإخضاعه لفحص سريري ، تبين كبر حجم الرأس بصورة غير طبيعية وإتخاذها الشكل الطولي، مع الفقدان التام لتوازن الرأس والتحكم بها، وعلى الفور تم إجراء فحوصات دقيقة بالتصوير المقطعي ثلاثي الأبعاد (3D) على كامل الدماغ، وعدداً من التحاليل المخبرية، وقد كشفت النتائج عن وجود تشوه خلقي "نادر"، عبارة عن حدوث التحام مبكر في عظمة الجمجمة، وتعظم الدروز بشكل غير طبيعي، موضحاً أن أسباب حدوث مثل هذا النوع من التشوهات يعود إلى الولادة المبكرة.
