القدس المحتلة- كانت مدينة القدس قبيل النكبة مركزا مهما للتعاملات المالية، وتحتضن فروعا لعدد من البنوك المحلية والدولية، ضمن منظومة مصرفية متقدمة.
يقول مدير مركز القدس للحقوق الاجتماعية والاقتصادية زياد الحموري، للجزيرة نت، إن "قطاع التعاملات المالية في القدس كان متقدما"، مشيرا إلى وجود عدة بنوك في ذلك الوقت، ذكر منها البنك العقاري المصري، والبنك الفلسطيني الألماني، والبنك العثماني.
وأضاف الحموري أن البنك الفلسطيني الأبرز في القدس كان البنك العربي، وأسسته عائلة شومان المقدسية، وتحول اليوم إلى شبكة مصرفية عالمية.
من جهته، يقول ماجد حيدر الحسيني، نجل موظف سابق بالبنك العربي في خمسينيات القرن الماضي، إن البنك العربي بدأ عام 1930 بـ7 مساهمين، ورأسمال مقداره 15 ألف جنيه فلسطيني.
وذكر في حديثه للجزيرة نت أن الفرع الرئيسي للموقع كان غربي القدس، لكن مع النكبة عام 1948 جرى نقله إلى شرقي القدس، ثم مع احتلال شرقي المدينة عام 1967، جرى إغلاقه، وما زال المقر مغلقا حتى اليوم.
