نجح مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب في الخبر ، في مواكبة التطور الطبي المستمر لتبسيط جراحات القلب، عبر تقنية التدخل المحدود minimall invasive mitral valve repair، التي تتطلب فريقاً طبياً مدرباً تدريباً خاصاً ومستشفى بإمكانيات وتجهيزات متقدمة.
وقال د. فهد المخدوم استشاري طب وجراحة القلب أن المستشفى تمكن من إنهاء معاناة الكثير من الحالات التي أصيبت بإشكالات صحية قلبية متنوعة عبر هذه التقنية الحديثة، وتم فيها إزالة إنسدادات الأوعية الدموية وتركيب الدعامات، وترميم صمامات القلب أو استبدالها، وغيرها من الحالات التي تم علاجها بنجاح.

وأكد أن جراحات التدخل المحدود تتميز عن جراحات القلب التقليدية بقصر فترات النقاهة والتنويم بالمستشفى وعودة أسرع لممارسة الحياة بصورة طبيعية، كما تقل فيها التهابات الجروح وكمية الدم المفقود نتيجة للتدخل الطبي، بالإضافة إلا أنها تحافظ على القفص الصدري وكفاءته، ويبقي على شكله الجمالي لصغر حجم الجرح، وتقلل كذلك من استخدام التنفس الاصطناعي، وفترة البقاء في العناية المركزة، إذ تكون لساعات قليلة تتراوح بين "6 إلى 12" ساعة، ومعدل البقاء في المستشفى إلى ثلاثة أيام فقط، فضلاً عن أنها تُجَنّب المريض مضاعفات وآلام فتح الصدر بمقدار "20 سم" كما هو الحال في الجراحة التقليدية.
