أعلن الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان أن عدد اللاجئين العائدين قد يصل إلى مليون شخص.
جاء ذلك خلال تصريحات أدلى بها بعد جولته الناجحة في الخليج، والتي شملت السعودية وقطر والإمارات العربية المتحدة، بالإضافة إلى جمهورية شمال قبرص التركية.
وأشار إلى أن عدد المغادرين من اللاجئين على متن الطائرات بلغ مليون لاجئ، ومن المتوقع أن يزداد هذا العدد في الفترة المقبلة.
وأكد أيضًا أنه تم العمل على بناء منازل من قوالب حجرية في شمال سوريا لاستقبال اللاجئين السوريين.
ووصل عدد هذه المنازل إلى 100-150 ألف منزل، وبدأ اللاجئون السوريون في العودة إلى بلادهم اعتبارًا من الآن.
ومن المتوقع أن يزداد عدد اللاجئين العائدين في المستقبل، بفضل دعم قطر للمشروع الذي يتم تنفيذه في الجزء الشمالي من سوريا.
وأعرب عن تفاؤله بتقدم هذا المشروع الذي سيسهم في زيادة عودة اللاجئين بشكل كبير.
وتأتي هذه الخطوة في إطار الجهود المستمرة لتوفير الدعم والمساعدة للأشخاص الذين نزحوا جراء النزاع الدائر في سوريا.
