الإصلاحات القضائية، والتي يرون أنها تهدف إلى "القضاء على الديمقراطية"، قبل التصويت على مشروع القانون في الكنيست.
وتسبب طرح مشروع الإصلاح القضائي مطلع يناير من جانب الائتلاف الحكومي الذي شكله بنيامين نتنياهو مع اليمين المتطرف والأحزاب الدينية المتشددة، إلى انقسام البلاد، وأثار واحدة من أكبر حركات الاحتجاج في إسرائيل على الإطلاق.

تل أبيب، بعدما دعا المنظمون إلى "يوم وطني للمقاومة"، وحثوا أنصارهم على التجمع في محطات القطارات وساحات المدينة وحولها.
وشكل مسلحون من مجموعة قدامى المحاربين في الجيش "أخيم لانشيك" (إخوة في السلاح) سلسلة بشرية عند المدخل الرئيسي لمقر قيادة الجيش الإسرائيلي في تل أبيب وغلقوه، حسب ما ذكرت وكالة فرانس برس.
وقال المتحدث باسم الحركة الاحتجاجية، جوش دريل: "من خلال أعمال العصيان المدني غير العنيفة، سنواصل التظاهر في الشوارع حتى الإلغاء الكامل للإصلاح القضائي".
وقالت الشرطة الإسرائيلية في بيان، إنها أوقفت 19 شخصا بتهمة "الإخلال بالنظام العام"، مضيفة أنها اعتقلت سائق دراجة حاول مهاجمة المحتجين.
الكنيست في قراءة أولى الأسبوع الماضي، على تعديل ما يُعرف باسم بند "المعقولية". ومن المقرر أن يعقد البرلمان الإسرائيلي جلسات تصويت في قراءة ثانية وثالثة في وقت لاحق من يوليو الجاري. وإذا تمت الموافقة عليه يصبح قانونا.
و"بند المعقولية" هو من الأدوات الإجرائية الموجودة بمتناول الجهاز القضائي في إسرائيل، وتحديدا لدى القضاة، وعلى الأخص قضاة المحكمة العليا. من خلاله تمارس المحكمة العليا رقابة قضائية على عمل الأذرع المختلفة للسلطة التنفيذية، الممثلة بالحكومة ووزاراتها والهيئات الرسمية التابعة لها.
وسيعطي التعديل الحكومة صلاحية أوسع في تعيين القضاة، ويؤثر خصوصا على تعيين الوزراء. ففي يناير أجبر قرار من المحكمة العليا نتنياهو على إقالة الرجل الثاني في الحكومة، أرييه درعي، المدان بتهمة التهرّب الضريبي.
وتقول حكومة نتنياهو التي تشكّلت في نهاية ديسمبر، إن التعديل يهدف إلى "إحداث توازن بين السلطات، من خلال تقليص صلاحيات المحكمة العليا"، التي تعتبرها السلطة التنفيذية "مسيسة".
