War at my Door

I did never think of war
To knock at my door

I cannot reach my money
To draw one single penny
As the bank is either closed
Or robbed by the mobs
Or ran short of any
Because of war

So, I cannot buy milk for children
Or medicine for myself
Or food for my family
And cannot fetch wood
To cook the food
Because of war

I cannot sleep at night
Due to the heavy fight
Close to my house
One on the left,
The other one on the right
Because of war

I cannot see my wife
Or draw so near
To say some words in her ear
to soothe her fear
Because of war

Because of war
I cannot speak to my grandchildren
Or talk with my family
As my family strives
To secure their lives
Under staircase
Or in the basement room
For the fear of shells
That come from the hell

Because of war
And due to the fear of guns
There is no way to run
As they send their fire
To hit everywhere,
Hitting men, in their shops
Women, in their kitchens
Busy with their jobs
Children, in cradles
Boys look for joys
in the playground
And girls, with their toys
Human or animals
All fear the war, fear the mines
That may explode at any time
To kill everything that can walk,
Creep or talk

I could not talk to my mother, or my father
To sister or brother
And could not speak to my neighbour
At the next door
Because of the war

I cannot walk freely in the street
For the fear of the Antonov*
Shelling the city with bombs
Or the fear of the Kalashnikov
They took my neighbor's house
And also took his car
Kept his family as human shield
And destroyed all fields
Because of war

Because of war
The dead bodies in the streets of my town
Have nobody to bury them down
They became festivals for dogs,
And meals for worms in the ground

And because of war
The trees- shyly- have their heads come down
Silently, weep the fate of the town
The fate of Sudan, running the worst war,
In the modern human history!
In the twenty-first century! !
So, my LORD, may YOU have mercy,
On my people and on my country

Notes: The Emergency Room south of the belt in Khartoum reported that 18 civilians were killed and others were wounded, as a result of heavy artillery shilling on the neighborhoods of Al-Azhari and Salama, immediately after the end of the one-day truce.

لم أفكر أبدا في الحرب
بشدة تطرق علي بابي

اذ لم استطيع الوصول إلى بعض نقودي
لاسحب قرش واحد
فالبنك إما مغلق
أو سطت عليه الغوغاء
بسبب الحرب

لم أستطيع شراء حليب للأطفال
أو دواء لنفسي
أو طعاما لعائلتي
ولا جلب الوقود
لطهي الطعام
بسبب الحرب

لم أستطيع النوم في الليل
فالقتال العنيف يدور قريبا من داري
معركة على اليسار،
وآخرى في اليمين
بسبب الحرب

لم أستطيع أن أرى زوجي
أو اقترب منها قليلا
لاهمس بعض الكلمات في أذنيها
واطيب خاطرها
بسبب الحرب

لم أستطيع مداعبة أحفادي
أوالتحدث مع عائلتي
اذ تسعى عائلتي لتأمين انفسهم
تحت الدرج او في الطابق السفلي
خوفا من القذائف تأتي من الجحيم
بسبب الحرب
وبسبب الخوف من بنادقهم
اذ يرسلون نيرانهم لتضرب في كل مكان،
الرجال في اماكنهم والنساء في المطبخ
الاطفال في المهد والأولاد في الملعب
والفتيات مع الدميات
لا تفرق بين الإنسان أو الحيوانات
الكل يخاف الحرب، ويخشى الألغام
قد ينفجر لغم في الحال فيقتل كل ما يمشي،
يزحف يتكلم او يهمس
بسبب الحرب

بسبب الحرب
لم أحادث أمي أو ابي
اختي أو أخي
ولم أحادث جاري
عند الباب بجواري

بسبب الحرب
لم استطيع السير بحرية في الشارع
خوفاً من أنتونوف يرسلها الجيش
تقصف مدينتنا
أو الخوف من الكلاشينكوف
يحمله الجنجويد
أخذوا منزل جاري وأيضا سيارته
احتفظوا بعائلته دروعا بشرية
ودمروا كل الحقول
بسبب الحرب
الجثث في شوارع مدينتنا
لم تجد احداً يواريها
صارت وجبة لكلاب حارتنا،
ومهدا للديدان في باطن الأرض

وبسبب الحرب
الأشجار - بخجل – تطأطأ رأسا
بصمت تبكي مصير مدينتنا
ومصير السودان...
يخوض حديثا اخبث حرب
في تاريخ البشرية ضد الانسان
في القرن الواحد والعشرين! !
رحماك ربي
وعطفك على وطني وعلى شعبي

ملاحظات: أفادت غرفة طوارئ جنوب الحزام بالخرطوم بمقتل 18 مدنياً وإصابة آخرين، نتيجة سقوط قذائف مدفعية ثقيلة على حيي الأزهري والسلامة، فور انتهاء هدنة اليوم الواحد. .
