أمير الكويت يعيّن رئيس الوزراء ويكلفه بتشكيل الحكومة

أفادت وكالة الأنباء الكويتية "كونا" بصدور "أمر أميري بتعيين الشيخ الدكتور محمد صباح السالم الصباح رئيسا لمجلس الوزراء ويكلف بترشيح أعضاء الوزارة الجديدة".

ويأتي ذلك بعد نحو أسبوعين من تسلم الأمير الجديد مقاليد الحكم، إثر وفاة أخيه غير الشقيق نواف الأحمد الصباح عن 86 عاما.
والشيخ محمد (68 عاما) هو الابن الرابع لأمير الكويت الثاني عشر الشيخ صباح السالم الصباح، الذي تقلد الحكم من عام 1965 حتى وفاته في 1977.
تولى الدبلوماسي المخضرم الحائز درجة دكتوراه في الاقتصاد ودراسات الشرق الأوسط من جامعة هارفرد، منصب سفير بلاده لدى الولايات المتحدة عام 1993 وبقي في منصبه لمدة عقد.
عُين وزيرا للخارجية عام 2003 وقدم استقالته في 2011، في خضم أزمة سياسية. واعتُبرت استقالته حينها اعتراضا على تقاعس الحكومة عن تنفيذ إصلاحات فعلية إزاء شبهات فساد.
