بعث خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبد العزيز آل سعود، برقية تهنئة، للشيخ مشعل الأحمد الجابر الصباح أمير دولة الكويت بمناسبة توليه مقاليد الحكم في دولة الكويت.
وقال الملك المفدى: "نهنئ سموكم بتوليكم مقاليد الحكم في دولة الكويت لمواصلة المسيرة التي قادها الفقيد الغالي الأخ صاحب السمو الشيخ نواف الأحمد الجابر الصباح - رحمه الله وأسكنه فسيح جناته - مؤكدين وقوف المملكة العربية السعودية مع دولة الكويت الشقيقة، وسائلين الله أن يديم عليكم الصحة والسعادة، وعلى دولة الكويت الشقيقة نماءها وتطورها وازدهارها بما يحقق تطلعات شعبها في ظل قيادتكم الحكيمة، ونتطلع إلى العمل مع سموكم لما فيه خير بلدينا وشعبينا الشقيقين".
كما بعث صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبد العزيز آل سعود ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء، برقية تهنئة، للشيخ مشعل الأحمد الجابر الصباح أمير دولة الكويت بمناسبة توليه مقاليد الحكم في دولة الكويت.
وقال سمو ولي العهد: " أهنئ سموكم بتوليكم مقاليد الحكم في دولة الكويت لمواصلة المسيرة التي قادها الفقيد الراحل صاحب السمو الشيخ نواف الأحمد الجابر الصباح - رحمه الله - وتغمده بواسع مغفرته - مؤكداً ما يربط البلدين الشقيقين من أواصر راسخة ومصير واحد مشترك، وسائلاً الله أن يجعل التوفيق حليفكم، وأن يديم على شعب دولة الكويت الشقيق التقدم والرخاء في ظل قيادتكم الحكيمة. وإنني على ثقة أن الجهود التي ستبذلونها ستؤتي ثمارها بالنفع والخير لدولة الكويت وشعبها الشقيق".
