دشن صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سعود بن نايف بن عبدالعزيز أمير المنطقة الشرقية , بمقر الإمارة اليوم، مركز البيانات الحادي والسبعين (DC71) التابع لمجموعة stc، الذي يعد أكبر مركز بيانات في المنطقة، وذلك بحضور وكيل وزارة الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات للاتصالات والبنية التحتية الرقمية المهندس بسام البسام, والرئيس التنفيذي للمجموعة عليان بن محمد الوتيد.

وأكد الوتيد مضي مجموعة stc قدماً في رحلة تمكين التحول الرقمي، مبيناً أن إطلاق مركز البيانات الجديد أحد أدوات النهوض الرقمي للمملكة، وأن المجموعة تسخر كافة إمكاناتها لابتكار مستقبل رقمي فريد، يسهم في تحقيق مستهدفات المملكة كونها محور ربط للقارات الثلاث.
وأبان أن مركز البيانات يمثل نوعية لأصول البنية التحتية الرقمية، التي تنفذها وتشغلها شركة center3 التابعة للمجموعة ويتألف من 10 قاعات عملاقة، تحتوي كل منها على 150 وحدة تخزين رقمي، وذلك بهدف تلبية الطلب المتزايد على الخدمات السحابية في المملكة، كما يقدم خدمات استضافة تتميز بأقصى درجات الأمان وسرعة الاستجابة ومحدودية المخاطر الناشئة عن العمليات وتحفيز نمو الأعمال والأنشطة، التي تتطلب سعات تخزينية هائلة للبيانات مثل الألعاب الرقمية والعمليات المالية والقطاعات الطبية والتجارة الإلكترونية.
وأفاد الوتيد بأن المركز يتمتع بموقع حيوي قريب من الأسواق الإقليمية الأساسية في منطقة الخليج العربي والقارة الآسيوية، ويمثل الممر الذي يمنح الربط الرقمي للمملكة أفقاً استراتيجياً جديداً. ويعزز من مكانة المملكة، بوصفها محطة عالمية للصناعة الرقمية، يفيد من تموضعها كمحور وصل بين قارات العالم ” ، حيث نجحت مجموعة stc في إطلاق وتطوير وتوسيع العديد من مراكز البيانات خلال الفترة الماضية، كان آخرها توسعة المركز الإقليمي في مدينة الرياض، بسعة إضافية تبلغ 9.6 ميجاواط.
ولفت إلى أن مراكز البيانات الجديدة والمطورة صممت بمعايير تشغيلية تعد الأفضل في فئتها من خلال توفير تقنيات اتصال بمعايير عالمية تساهم في بناء اقتصاد رقمي وطني متين ومستدام.
